I got the DIT service from Kyle for my duo Layers And Frames (layersandframes.com) and it was super helpful for booking our summer tour. First I did a phone consultation with Kyle during which he gave me some great pointers. Then, based on the phone call, Kyle wrote a booking pitch that was both concise and effective. He also helped me route the tour in a way that was logical, taking into account our location, time frame, etc. The week after the pitches went out, I literally received hundreds of replies; more than I could reply too in a timely fashion. I was quite happy with that "problem." Thus DIT was essential to booking our tour. It should be mentioned that most of the replies were declines for the reason of the pitch being too close to the desired date (about 2 months out). So that's the only thing I would have done differently. I would have done DIT at least 3-4 months before the first desired show date. Do keep that in mind. Thanks Kyle ;-)
https://www.indieonthemove.com/index.php/users/LayersAndFramesThanks to Kyle and the staff at IOTM for helping me contact with a wide number of venues along the West Coast. Having toured before, but never the West Coast, they opened up a whole new market for me with their extensive database of venues and initial email contacts. I also really appreciated the consultation on how to write a convincing booking pitch and what kinds of information to include. IOTM is a fantastic resource for independent artists. Looking forward to what's ahead now with the help of IOTM!! https://www.indieonthemove.com/index.php/users/RichardDoverJrIOTM Pro Services was exactly what we needed to help get the rest of our spring tour booked. Since using the service, I have had uncountable offers from venues in my inbox almost daily and have established a great number of connections with venues that I will be furthering up with for future tours. It's awesome working with Kyle. He's totally down to earth, intelligent and to the point. He waists no time and he does not try to sell you any b.s.. Kyle's efforts and skills are phenomenal really. I definitely hope I can work with him again. Thank you IOTM
https://www.indieonthemove.com/index.php/users/muddyruckusWhen I formed my band The Goddess Lakshmi my goals were modest. All I wanted was a weekly gig at a local bar that paid. I succeeded at that. I scored a gig at Paris Blues in Harlem when things were so bleak they were on the imminent verge of closing. WE created the scene there and now that joint is jumping. We got enough stage time to improve our skills and develop our repertoire. My bandmates however were not satisfied. One in particular kept complaining that we “needed to record, play Brooklyn” and things like that. I tried booking gigs at other venues in NYC, my home town. A bit of providence happened when Felix Reyes a Chicago bluesman and producer discovered us at Paris Blues. We recorded an album on a shoestring budget with him. I brought it around to clubs and still it was like running a bicycle against a stone wall. I was so frustrated that one day I literally googled “How do I book a gig.” That’s how I found IOTM. I registered with them and using their free service I was able to book last minute openings posted by desperate club owners. We played all the usual parasitical NYC venues. Reading IOTM articles online I refined my pitch. I followed the free advice of experts on how to book and what to expect. Eventually we settled into two favorite clubs that actually bother to curate their presentations; Pianos in Manhattan and The Way Station in Brooklyn. Neither of these clubs will give you a dime but they will give you a drink and an audience. An audience that is sophisticated. They also have a scene. With this as a springboard we recorded our second album. We were now able to book venues with a more august reputation like The Bitter End. We were approached by a radio promoter who followed the scene at The Way Station. It was time to try touring. I opted for the “do it together option” with Kyle at IOTM. It began with a review of our website, promotional materials and an evaluation of our pitch. Then Kyle sits down with you on the phone and proceeds to blow your mind. 90% of the things he told me were obvious yet I would have never thought of them. It was like a year of business school in 60 minutes. All of Kyle’s advice was actionable. There was none of this “what is your bands spirit animal?” stuff. (our bands spirit animal is a lion by the way). We worked together on a new pitch. Then using IOTMs massive data base he sent out the pitches for a limited 11 day northeast, mid-atlantic tour. His approach to organizing a tour is brilliant. The offers came pouring in. We were able to book gigs in Springfield, Hartford, Becket, Lowell (my home town) Boston, Philadelphia, Fairfax, DC, and Baltimore. We launched the tour at Pianos in New York City. Some places we got nothing, in others we were paid generously by check immediately after the performance. Kyle guided me through the negotiation process and I was able to add extras like food, housing, small guarantees and better cuts at the door. We found fans to feed and house us along the way. We brought merch along and this greatly supplemented our income. Everywhere we gathered email address. We were sowing seeds for the future. The whiner who instigated the change in my attitude is long gone now. Our band is much more professional. I can see our next steps clearly. I cannot recommend IOTM highly enough. I will always be grateful to Kyle for his guidance and advice. Onward and upward. Rene Calvo, The Goddess Lakshmi.
https://www.indieonthemove.com/index.php/users/renecalvoAfter months and months of my own booking attempts, shooting emails and making phone calls in the dark, hoping for something to work, the IOTM team was able to secure me several shows in a matter of days. We now have a pretty busy couple of months coming up and we only asked for helping booking regional shows. If you're planning a national tour, I know the service would be even better.
https://www.indieonthemove.com/index.php/users/RichardCopelandHonestly, we wanted to take a second to say thank you to Kyle and to IOTM for all of their help in booking this tour with Vector Row (LA/CA) and MAYO (Brazil). We were very lost at first but with this booking and pitch consultation, it really helped relieve a lot of the stress, and it was seriously so nice to have a reliable and well-seasoned and experienced helping hand along the entire process. Kyle truly made sure that we have everything we needed, and even made the initiative to check back numerous times amongst what I am sure must be an insane schedule. We cannot than you enough, and I will definitely be working with you guys in the future, you rock! Jonathan, Vector Row, and MAYO
https://www.indieonthemove.com/index.php/users/capitalnorthbandIndie - just wanted to take a moment to express how valuable your service has been to our project. I just tallied up our IOTM bookings and we have booked 21 new venues directly from your database this year alone. This number doesn't even include the RE-bookings we've scheduled from those 21 venues. It's also worth noting, that all of this came from the FREE portion of your service. We're so impressed, we just signed-up for your colleges/universities service. Indie is a no-brainer, tons-of-value, resource for any band looking to forge new territory and break into new markets. Thanks, Indie!! Matt Sinkovitz Rivers http://www.theriversband.com
https://www.indieonthemove.com/index.php/users/TheriversbandThe Deltaz have been on 5 national tours at this point. And we can credit IOTM with helping to make each one of those tours possible. IOTM resource is an irreplaceable part of our tour booking and it is the single most important element for any emerging artist looking to tour.
https://www.indieonthemove.com/index.php/users/TheDeltazNeed to give Kyle a huge shoutout. We were in a time crunch to get dates booked for our tour and my stress and frustration level was through the roof. I did a consultation with Kyle and immediately started receiving responses from some great venues. With only two weeks to plan and book we were able to fill out a weeks worth of tour dates from Boston all the way down to Texas. Tour was a blast and went super smooth! Couldn't have done it without Kyle! Well worth the money!
