By now as an independent artist, you should know that if you're not using IOTM, then you're probably not touring. I front a folk-rock band called Joshua Powell & the Great Train Robbery - we've been at it for two years now, but only just made it a full-time endeavor this summer. As the engine behind the band, I've worked tirelessly to learn the necessary entrepreneurial and administrative to make touring a sustainable lifestyle. It's difficult for me to imagine what booking would be like without this super-powered database. It's totally anti-establishment in the way that it cuts out the middle men and puts the power in the artists' hands. It's almost the DIY ethos, but even better, it encourages artists and industry folks to do it together. I discovered IOTM back in 2011 and since have used it to book all our US club tours. Being that we're not a band, there are very few entertainment booking agencies who secure shows for Artists like ours. In order for Hellzapoppin to succeed and grow we must book and manage all our own shows and thanks to IOTM we have been able to do so. Before Hellzapoppin my background was 12 years in artist/talent management and booking. I would have killed to have a service like that of IOTM back then. For many years I consulted with independent artists free of charge. I love and support indie music and traveled the country sitting on various music industry panels. My goal during that time period was to help as many independent artists as I possibly could so I created what was once the world's largest Independent Mobile Phone Content Distribution Company, GroupieTunes. GroupieTunes was the very first company in the world to offer independent artists their very own ringtones, digital distribution, management and booking tips, etc. We signed over 100,000 independent bands and artists in our first year.
