About

After moving to Tallahassee, Florida in 2000 to attend Florida State University, singer/songwriter, Tomer Oami found a gig hosting an open mic night at a coffee shop called Aristotle's Coffee Garage where he came into contact with musicians from all over the city. Whilst listening to various performers that came through every Saturday night, he eventually found the right people to make his solo act into a band. The band is composed of "G" on bass, James Bagley on lead guitar, Steve Vorass on drums, and Thea Vorass on cello and piano. Each person comes from a varied background and place. They share their experiences and love for music together. "I want people to get inside my songs, relate them to their own experiences, and so share the moment... I use my voice as another instrument, and as I move from place to place, I sing my stories..." - Tomer Oami They have received much acclaim and radio play for the three song 2004 EP featuring tracks "Typical Reaction", "Mechanical Flowers" and the ever popular, "Love Song." Throughout the course of 2005 the group finished work on their much anticipated full-length debut album "Day In The City" officially released in November of 2005. Songs from the album may be heard on RDIO, Soundcloud, iTunes and Spotify. “As for the group, they speak (or play) for themselves. Twelve fine songs, some even great, say they are better together than apart and, yes, Tomer Oami wrote and sang lead, but dollars to donuts every night he points to the members of the group because they are as good as they come.” - FAME(Folk And Music Exchange) album reviewer, Frank Gutch Jr. "[Day In The City] showcases lead singer and songwriter Tomer Oami's lyrical and musical skills. His compositions brim with feeling and solid musicianship. The disc is more than listenable - its hooks wiggle into your ear and into your consciousness. Oami's pop-inflected sound evokes such influences as The Beatles without sounding at all derivative." - Kati Schardl of the Tallahassee Democrat Newspaper With the ultra-rapid success of the band, OAMI managed to make the move to New York City for the next stage in their musical careers. After a couple of years, the band members agreed to go on hiatus for awhile in order to focus on other ambitions. Now, a few years later, after receiving so much feedback from their fans of the staying power of Day In The City, they have decided to launch their first ever reunion tour in support of the original album that has made such a difference to so many people. OAMI will be adding great new material to their setlist for consideration of a 2nd album. So keep on the lookout for this up and coming innovative group as they are surely going to change and help shape the sound of the national music scene! Update: OAMI is currently booking for our 2014 Day In The City Reunion Tour of the Southeast! www.facebook.com/oamiband
