About

Tesoro Bio – June 2013 Tesoro – Art highly prized for its beauty and perfection. Not many bands can live up to such a description. But in the case of Tucson based band, Tesoro, not only is this accurate, but it’s the only way to describe the myriad of styles and talent that make up this outstanding group. Equally comfortable on a dark stage in a bar, during the beating heat of a street fair, at weddings or corporate affairs, a Tesoro show is a provocative experience. Catchy original compositions, new takes on classics and the ability to entertain those from age 8 to 80, all combine to make Tesoro one of the most exciting bands currently playing around the Southwest. A fusion of flamenco, rock, pop, rumba and cumbia guitars is the main focus of Tesoro. Founding members Brian Scott and Justin Fernandez long ago surpassed the label of prodigy and have now taken this music to an entirely new level. It is simply impossible to listen to the music created by these talented men and not find yourself dancing. With Gabriel Kaiser on the drums, channeling the power of Bonham and the delicate skills of Ginger Baker, and bassist Andrew McClarron building intricate baselines like an Escher painting, Tesoro creates music that mesmerizes, makes one smile and goes in directions no one expects. In front of these seasoned musicians is new front man, Efisio Giordanelli. The Venezuelan born singer was the final piece needed for the Tesoro puzzle. With a confidence that far exceeds his experience, a subtle charisma and charming stage presence, Efisio adds percussive elements, and dancing lessons in addition to his engaging vocals. Each band member of Tesoro shines when it comes to their instrument. But the whole piece is so much bigger than the sum of its parts when it comes to this group. Their diversity and unique personalities bring a musical background and influences that creates a fusion of sound sure to inspire the soul. A community minded group, Tesoro collectively supports various charity events and institutions around southern Arizona; as well as making time to perform for elementary schools to reiterate the importance of musical education. With two live CD’s under their belts, numerous performance videos on YouTube, and at least 100 shows a year, Tesoro is now in the process of recording their first studio album with producer/engineer Jim Waters (Sonic Youth, Chuck Prophet, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion). With the studio being yet another instrument in their arsenal, Tesoro hopes to expand their fan base by turning radio and press on to their unique sound and look. With an album, tour, and more videos in the works, you too will find that Tesoro’s dynamic, energetic, and romantic music and persona is what makes the group a must-see.
