About

Wisco Kidz is a hip hop collective that formed in 2011 consisting of rappers Kyrie (Javier Lockridge) and YD (Michael Boyd). Kyrie is from Chicago and YD was born and raised in Milwaukee. The artists met and decided to collaborate while attending Green Bay Southwest High School. Following graduation, they began recording their first collective project. Their music includes elements of hip hop, rap, pop, and R&B with musical inspiration from Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Eminem, and 50 Cent. YD is described as a natural rapper with a more laid-back and technical/rhythmic flow, while Kyrie’s vocal tone and frenetic delivery provide the adrenaline. The collective became locally recognized in the Midwest following their first, joint project titled The Wake Up (2011). They then spent two years writing, creating, and producing their second, self-titled mixtape Wisco Kidz (2013). In 2014, they released their third mixtape The Wake Up 2 under the flagship label Wisco Kidz Entertainment. This mixtape featured local, Midwest hits “Shutdown”, “Pretty Little Thing”, and “Addiction.” The duo spent the year sharing the stage with headlining acts including; Jim Jones, YG, Trina, Lil Durk, J. Holiday, and King Louie. In October 2014, they capped off the year with their largest show at The Rave (Milwaukee, WI) while opening for Tech N9ne. As they gained momentum in early 2015, the collective delivered their first official EP project March Madness. The project featured singles “Keifer Sykes” and “Hold Up” which created a high level of excitement in the state. Following this release, they hit the road and performed with various artists including Kevin Gates and Rico Love. Between projects, the duo has collaborated and worked with fellow artists while producing singles “One Day” and “Side Bitches.” During this time, they have worked to fine-tune their craft. They have worked with top producers and executives in the music industry to sharpen their image and sound. While there is still a lot of room for growth, it is clear that the talent and dedication is there. In 2016, Kyrie and YD released their first official full album, Wake Up 3. Wake Up 3 consists of singles “So Predictable,” “Party Too Much,” and “I Got It (Juice).” This album has taken every resource available (not only financially, but emotionally) to produce; which meant countless trips across country, endless days in the studio, and thousands of dollars in promotional efforts. Through the telling of the duo’s trials and tribulations, they have developed a unique sound which is unlike any other in the industry. In January 2017, the duo released a Green Bay Packers anthem, titled Run the Table. The song, centered on the team’s impressive end-of-season winning streak, received over 150,000 views on YouTube after the first week (and another 40,000 views for their highlight compilation video). The Green Bay Packers organization reached out to the collective to perform the song at Lambeau Field. The song was a small step towards the duo’s lofty goals and expectations for 2017.
