Adam Zuniga’s dazzling guitar work traverses across genres, from his contribution to Austin-based band Hours Quiet to his solo guitar efforts with the Adam Zuniga Project. In addition, he regularly performs with bands covering a wide variety of top 40 music — even a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute act. Adam demonstrates his songwriting capacity with the newest EP by Hours Quiet, which has received rotation in Austin’s 101x and other indie music outlets. Hours Quiet is an Austin-based band often described as melodic indie with 1st wave and modern alternative influences. They have quickly become mainstays at Stubbs, Empire Control Room, Swan Dive and other music venues. The band is currently putting the finishing touches on a new album recorded at Good Danny’s, an award-winning recording studio appearing on several “Best of Austin” lists. Accolades include “Best Grand Slam Studio” – 2014 Austin Chronicle “Best of Austin” Critic’s Pick; “Best Recording Studio” – 2013 Austin Music Industry Awards. The trio has enjoyed residencies at places like Rosario’s in the popular Blue Star Arts District, Paesanos 1604, Aldaco’s at Sunset Station and La Villita’s artwalk at Maverick Plaza. The NY-based music blog, Noise Beneath the Apple writes that “either Adam Zuniga is not a traditional world artist, or he is changing the very face of the genre upside down. Either way, it is a victory.” He performs every year with other independent artists at a Lower East Side showcase in New York City. In 2018, Austin-based Love Hate Affair celebrated the ten-year anniversary of the release of their eponymous EP. After a long hiatus, the band will be returning for select dates in Austin and several TBA markets. Reminiscent of bands like Joy Division and The Smiths, their music continues in the tradition of blending indie-guitar and electronic music with vocals influenced by Morrissey, Dave Gahan, and Ian Curtis. Previous tours have included legendary venues such as Whisky A GO GO, Key Club, Radio Room, Viper Room, Arlene’s Groceries, and The Lexington London. Love Hate Affair was a major presence in the indie/New Wave/Post-Rock scene and is still regarded as a band who continues to make their mark.
