In April 2016 Frank Hurd and his band released "Lively" - their debut official album as the Frank Hurd Band. "Lively" includes new renditions of songs from Hurd's two previous solo EPs (both iTunes singer/songwriter top 10 albums) as well as several new songs. The result is an eclectic blend of folky pop/rock tunes featuring Hurd's "compelling songwriting" (Holly Hutchinson, A&R Capitol/Atlantic Records) and "soulful vocal(s)" (Dale Kawashima, SingerUniverse.com). "We decided to name the album 'Lively' because we essentially approached the entire record as if it were a live performance," says Hurd. "It's basically a live album without the crowd," adds guitarist Michael Lobacz, "which makes for a real raw, compelling record, I think." In recent years, Hurd's performed at MerleFest, Tin Pan South, and The Bluebird. He's performed with artists such as Ben Kweller and Old Crow Medicine Show. In addition, he's been recognized for his songwriting abilities - winning the Chris Austin Songwriting Competition, the Show Me The Music International Songwriting Competition, and being named "One To Watch" by NSAI. Hurd's had songs placed on several music compilations - including albums from bestselling author Paul Boynton, and the OneFund Boston, benefitting victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. The OneFund compilation committee ultimately decided to name the benefit album after a line from Frank's song, "Light."
