About

Michael Howard is a songwriter born and raised in the wilds of Alaska. Spinning "stand-out folk songs" Michael brings energy, passion, and a "fierceness in his music" to each of his performances (Anchorage PRESS). He is currently touring in support of his second-full length album "The Martyr and the Magician" which includes tracks produced by Jacob Winik (The Magnetic Fields, Pomplamoose, Samantha Crain). Michael creates, "Catchy instrumentation… that is stripped down and melodic, he takes you on a lyrical journey across the US in search of something that likely no longer exists, a picture of nostalgia drawn in words and chords". Michael was selected as a finalist in the prestigious Mountain Stage NewSong competition (2014). In his short career Michael has shared the stage with talented songwriters including Jeffrey Martin, J Wagner, and John Craigie.
